music for bands not yet formed

A collection of sketches for bashful types and shoegazers.

way down chorus

A version of the haunting melody Dawn Chorus by Thom Yorke. Thx to Reverb Machine for this breakdown which I used as my starting point.

I tweaked the melody just a bit, slowed the tempo way down, pitched the synth down, and then slathered on the fx.

Audio: u-he Diva and TAL Juno VSTs run thru Stardust tape echo, Valhalla Shimmer, etc.

close to cocteau

Audio: Solo electric guitar; Valhalla Delay and Super Massive plugins (plus a touch of EQ).

my heart-shaped bloody portishead valentine

A series of happy accidents, really.  It started as a sound check of some new audio software on my laptop and kept growing in pieces.  The first few sections were captured as throw away riffs.  They seemed to work when combined, and soon a more complete sketch began to emerge.

Audio: Electric guitar with lots of post production; Prophet 12 for lead/pluck; canned drums from Logic Pro.

boards of kc

A Boards of Canada rip off.

Audio: Processed acoustic guitar; drum loops from Logic Pro.

Video: Swiped from vimeo.

deckard’s arp

Audio: Super 8 by Native Instruments; u-He Repro 5 (which is an awesome emulation of Prophet 5); OP-Xa, Jupiter 8, and Juno 6 from Arturia; drum loops and percussion from Ableton Suite.

ballerina

Audio: Arcade by Output; Jup-8 from Arturia; stock drum samples from Ableton Live.
